Rhode Island's own Olympic Swimmer Elizabeth Beisel goes for Gold tonight


After finishing first in her heat and second overall Rhode Island's own olympic swimmer will go for gold tonight in the 200-M Backstroke at 10 PM on NBC.


Last Night "Beisel, 15, hung near the back of the pack for the first 100 meters or so before turning on the speed — and this time getting to the front of the pack.
If Beisel is to win a medal, she will have to do it against a difficult field that will feature Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe and current world-record holder Margaret Hoelzer of the United States."- Projo.com


Also RI's own Olympic Boxer Demetrius Andrade advances to the quaterfinals


(Andrade) is one of the shining stars of the U.S. Olympic boxing team. He proved just how far he's come with a dominating 14-3 victory over Balanov in the quarterfinals - projo.com


Andrade is USA's best chance to win gold in boxing. His next fight is Sunday morning Eastern time at 8:46 a.m. against South Korea's Kim Jung-joo.
